harvey nicholstry to contain your excitement

§ Notes
The luxury retail market is notoriously polite, but the biannual Harvey Nichols Sale is anything but. When those red doors open, well-heeled shoppers turn into absolute savages. Looking at the raw, high-society desperation of the event, we realised a hilarious truth: the sheer, primal urge of a bargain-hunter is an incredibly hard thing to hide. Sometimes, it manifests physically.
Under the provocative banner of "Try to Contain Your Excitement," we created a campaign that broke the ultimate luxury taboo. The print and poster spots featured impeccably dressed, beautiful models in stunning, high-fashion poses. They had quite literally wet themselves with excitement. Shot with high-gloss editorial perfection by renowned fashion photographer Alan Clarke, the stark, gorgeous styling made the shocking physical reality of the "wet patches" stand out even more.
It was a massive gamble that paid off spectacularly. The campaign instantly went global, sparking a fiery public debate from the front pages of the Daily Mail to the pages of the New York Times, Perez Hilton, and Heat magazine. It even became a cover star for Lürzer's Archive, inspired a segment where Kermit the Frog lost control over it, and resulted in a request from Tena Incontinence pads for a spoof. By pairing elite, high-fashion aesthetic with pure, low-brow physical comedy, we generated over £2 million in earned media, sparked national outrage, and drove the highest-grossing sales figures in Harvey Nichols' 181-year history. Within twenty minutes of opening, the entire handbag department was stripped bare.
