Most resident portals are built for property managers, not the people who actually live in the building. Important documents disappear into folders, payments feel like accounting software, and finding an answer usually means emailing someone and waiting.
OneDoor reimagines the resident experience from the ground up. It's an AI-powered building companion that combines payments, maintenance, documents, announcements and messaging into a single, intuitive interface. Instead of asking residents to learn another management system, the product lets them simply ask questions in plain English.
The design challenge wasn't adding more features — it was making complex property management feel calm, trustworthy and effortless. Every interaction, illustration and piece of copy was designed to reduce friction while giving residents confidence that the information they need is always one question away.

OneDoor was Toby Brewer's own project, created and designed as Creator, Product Designer and Creative Director, with AI prototyping in Lovable.
Residents do not want another management system to learn. They want to ask a question in plain English and get an answer. Once that is the primary interface, the underlying complexity of property management can recede into the background instead of being pushed onto the person least equipped to navigate it.
OneDoor combines payments, maintenance, documents, announcements and messaging into a single interface built around an AI building companion. The design challenge was not adding features but subtracting friction: every interaction, illustration and line of copy is written to feel calm and trustworthy, and to reassure residents that whatever they need is one question away. The product work covers creative direction, product design and UX/UI.
